Fernando Luis Prego

PREGO, FERNANDO L., passed away on April 21st, 2022 after battling a brief illness. Fernando was a proud husband, father and grandfather who was dedicated to his family. He was born in Habana, Cuba on February 5, 1943 to Fernando Prego Silva and Josefina Prego Granja. He was an avid reader who possessed a vast knowledge of history especially regarding military and politics. His talent for drawing provided The Brigade 2506 with artwork that is displayed and used to educate tourists on the Bay of Pigs invasion at Playa de Giron. His passions were auto racing at all levels including a sixth place finish in GTO at his last race at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1985 and fishing having won multiple tournaments throughout Florida and the Bahamas. He had a caring heart for animals including taking care of numerous strays in the later years of his life. He is survived by his wife; Grisel Prego; his children Albert (Susana), Ana Margarita, Suzanne Marie and Fernando (Diana) along with his five grandchildren Jose (Albany), Ileana, Dominic (Erin), Mason and Nathan. A funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at 10:00am at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church.
